Book one of what is currently an eleven book series.
MacKayla’s life was perfectly normal and exactly what she wanted – until her sister is murdered while studying abroad.  When the authorities and her parents except that the case is cold and will never be solved, she travels to Ireland to find her sister’s killer. But as her own ability’s turn magical, MacKayla realizes that she might need help.
Love Factor: 3 out of 5 Hearts

Weeping Factor: 0 out of 5 Tears

*Donita Factor: 1 out of 5 Teapots

*Donita Factor: This factor will tell you if there are any steamy bits in the book. The scale will be measured by Teapots of Steam. 1 being just a little steam and 5 being… well…. you get the picture.

Children of Virtue and Vengence by Tomi Adeyemi

The long await sequel to the AMAZING Children of Blood and BoneDefinitely read it before picking up this one. But you should probably read them both. ASAP. 😀

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood 419TWZk7luL

If you read this one, AND YOU SHOULD, make sure you check out the author’s note at the end.
Sequel to Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, The Testaments takes place 15 years following the beginning of this powerful tale. Gilead is showing signs of rotting from the inside out.

The Golden Son by Pierce Brown

Yet another sequel! Make sure you read book one, or you will be pretty lost in this series.

Shout out to my cousin, Anna, for turning me onto this series – even though it’s taking me a while to continue it.

Love Factor: 4 out of 5 Hearts

Weeping Factor: 0 out of 5 Tears

The Witch’s Kind by Louisa Morgan

I bought this book based entirely on this line of the book blurb: In the aftermath of World War II, two women with unusual gifts must protect a mysterious baby in a poignant tale of family, sacrifice and magic.
Granted, I should have read the rest of the description, as it was very different than I thought I would be. However, it was still an excellent story and very well told.

Weeping Factor: 0 out of 5 Tears
